Hello LIVE Music Lovers,
On August 20th, we had a wonderful evening with one of Canada’s most celebrated tenor saxophonists, Mike Murley.Mike was our featured guest for August and was joined by jazz guitarist Joe Huron (subbing in for Andy H); Jack McFadden, bass; Steve Wood, drums; and me. Mike chose to play the first set as a tribute to the great tenor saxophonist Sonny Rollins, who passed earlier this year.The second set was a tribute to Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk.The most outstanding tune for me as a listener was Mike’s incredible solo over the great jazz standard “You Don't Know What Love Is." His ideas and improvised lines over this popular ballad were beautiful and moving, a treat for all listeners for sure.I must admit you could hear a pin drop for most of the night, to listeners' delight.
